Lydell C. Lettsome is the Founder and Managing Partner of Say AMEN! Ministries. The Rev. Lydell C. Lettsome, M.D. is a third generation preacher who strives to make full proof of his ministry through preaching, teaching, and writing. He believes anytime and anywhere can be the right time to worship. Hence Dr. Lettsome has envisioned a platform for preachers and worshippers to have meaningful spiritual engagement 24/7.
A board-certified general surgeon and ordained Baptist minister with a background of study in Christian and Medical Ethics, Dr. Lettsome is the author of prize winning book advocating universal healthcare for Americans, Stolen Money, Stolen Health. He is a practicing Christian who not only expresses his love of God and people through his surgical skill but also through his service to the community and the world. Dr. Lettsome has travelled the world providing free medical and surgical care to the poor with various missionary groups.
He received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology & Pre-Medical Sciences from Columbia University. From there he earned his M.D. at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pa. In the midst of a highly demanding surgical career he completed a Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York City. A Fellow of the American College Surgeons, Dr. Lettsome is also a member of the American Institute of Healthcare Quality, the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the American Society of Breast Disease. He is currently in private practice in Orange County, NY and is happily married to the Rev. Raquel S. Lettsome, Ph.D.
Raquel S. Lettsome is a Managing Partner of Say AMEN! Ministries and the writer for the Official Say AMEN! blog, “Unlikely Preachers.” She is an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church with 20 years of congregational ministry experience that transcends denominational lines. She is committed to resourcing and equipping the Body of Christ for ministry. For 16 years, she served as the first female Executive Minister of the historic 4000 member St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church in Newark, NJ where she oversaw all ministry operations including the oversight and development of the 28 member ministerial staff. In 2012, Dr. Lettsome parlayed her parish ministry experience into a consulting business to assist pastors and ministers with ministry organization, professional planning, preaching, and teaching. Dr. Lettsome is a published author and Biblical scholar, earning the first Ph.D. in New Testament Studies from Princeton Theological Seminary. Her passion is both the content and the communication of the Gospel. She is the wife of Lydell Lettsome and mother of two children, Tiffany and Luke.
Carol D. Blakeley is our Technical Assistant. A former Data Management Specialist for the U.S. Navy, Ms. Blakeley brings 25 years of financial, payroll, configuration management of requisitions and material procurement systems experience to advance the administrative functions of Say AMEN! In addition, she supports the Say AMEN! preachers by providing the technical expertise for uploading, editing, and optimizing audio and video content. Ms. Blakeley is native of New Jersey and a devoted grandmother of 5.
