Prayer Builds Hope!
Exodus 33:11 New International Version
The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.
To have hope in God is good but a functional relationship with God is even better. Like all relationships, one with God means communication. Prayer is communication. Prayer is talking with God not to God. When done right prayer becomes a lifestyle that allows us to have meaningful experiences with the impossible and the supernatural. Exodus 33:11 highlights several suggestions regarding a functional prayer life.
Firstly, Moses and Joshua took time out their day to be alone with God. Moses and God engaged each other as friends. Friends do not dictate, demand, blackmail or ignore each other. Friends share with each other hopes, fears, wisdom, humor and wealth. Understanding God’s plan for our life becomes easier when we are willing to fully share our life with God.
Verse 33 shows us that prayer with God can work with anyone. Joshua was still a youth. Unlike Moses he was also a former Egyptian slave who came from a family of slaves. Yet he learned from Moses how to communicate with God. Joshua was not born an amazing individual. He grew into one as he shared his life with God.
In 2017 don’t just make requests to God. Instead let us take time daily to share our hearts, minds and souls with God. In 2017 let us pray to talk, listen, believe and prepare with God. Remember God doesn’t just want to hear from us, God also wants to walk with us. Oh, the places we can go and grow if we will just talk daily with God!
